ABOUT THE SHOW
“A wise girl knows her limits, a smart girl knows that she has none.”
Caesars Entertainment, ABG, The Estate of Marilyn Monroe, Prospect House Entertainment, and Red Lips, LLC present
Marilyn! The New Musical, based on the life of Hollywood’s greatest icon, Marilyn Monroe, featuring the very best talent that Broadway,
Los Angeles, and Las Vegas have to offer.
“Beneath the makeup and behind the smile, I am just a girl who wishes for the world.”
Marilyn Monroe was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson, June 1st, 1926. During her all-too-brief life, Marilyn overcame a difficult childhood to become one of the world’s biggest and most enduring sex symbols. Monroe spent most of her youth in foster care and orphanages.
“No one ever told me I was pretty when I was a little girl. All little girls should be told they're pretty, even if they aren’t."
All Norma Jeane wanted was to escape her circumstances and become a big star; yet, when she becomes Marilyn Monroe, all she wants is to be a regular girl. Told through the eyes of her trusted driver Charlie, Marilyn Monroe’s meteoric rise to stardom is fueled by her fierce feminism and determination to succeed professionally, while equally plagued by her devastating personal failures. Through marriages, movies and iconic moments in history, Marilyn Monroe is constantly challenged by her ever-present alter ego, Norma Jeane,
in her search for true happiness.
“Dreaming about being an actress, is more exciting than being one.”
Norma Jeane signed her first movie contract in 1946, and with it came a new name and image. Marilyn Monroe died on August 5, 1962, at only 36 years old. She is the epitome of the American Dream: a girl who came from a less than ideal background and achieved more than anyone else in entertainment history. She challenged Hollywood in an epic battle, shattering boundaries, leaving an indelible imprint on American culture.
